본 논문의 목적은 밀양아리랑의 문화적 가치와 중요성을 살펴보고, 음악교육적 측면에서 밀양아리랑이 가지 는 의미와 역할은 무엇인지 알아본 후, 앞으로 나아가야 할 밀양아리랑의 음악교육적 과제와 적용방향을 제시 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 다양한 역사적 문헌과 자료를 분석하여 결론을 도출하는‘기록자료 연구 방법’을 사용하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 밀양아리랑은 한국 전통 민요에 대한 문화적 가치와 한국 인의 음악문화와 정체성을 이해하고 확립하는데 도움을 준다. 둘째, 밀양아리랑은 입에서 입으로 전해지는 다 른 무형문화재와는 달리, 경상도가 아닌 서울과 경기도 지역 예인들의 음반을 통해 전국적으로 인기를 얻고 퍼 져나간 신민요로, 당시 밀양아리랑의 원형의 모습을 알 수 있다는 점에서 가치가 있다. 셋째, 밀양아리랑은 항 일 독립운동에 대한 역사적 사실에 대한 이해에 도움을 준다. 넷째, 밀양아리랑은 음악문화유산 보존과 실생활 적용에 대한 방법을 이해하는데 도움을 준다. 무형문화유산인 음악의 경우, 실제로 사람들에게 불러지고 연주 될 때 그 가치가 보존된다. 이러한 점에서 세계유산으로써 밀양아리랑의 가치를 지속적으로 유지하고 보존하 기 위해서는 정규 학교 음악교과과정에서 밀양아리랑을 실제로 노래하고 체험하는 교육을 강화할 필요가 있 다. 마지막으로 ‘민요에도 옷을 입혀야 한다.’는 코다이의 주장처럼, 밀양아리랑의 새로운 재창조를 통한‘창조 적 계승’이 필요하다. 본 연구결과가 밀양아리랑을 음악문화유산으로 보존하고 실생활에 적용하고자 하는 음악 교사와 학생들에게 도움이 되기를 바란다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the cultural value and importance of "Miryang Arirang", to find out what the meaning and role of "Miryang Arirang" has in terms of music education, and to present the music education tasks and application directions of "Miryang Arirang" to move forward. To this end, this study used the 'record data research method' that analyzes various historical liter- atures and data to draw conclusions, and the results are as follows. First, “Miryang Arirang” helps to understand and establish the cultural value of Korean traditional folk songs and Korean music culture and identity. Second, "Miryang Arirang", unlike other intangible cultural properties passed down from mouth to mouth, is a new folk song that gained popularity and spread nationwide through the albums of artists in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, not Gyeongsang-do, and is valuable in that it was possible to know the original form of "Miryang Arirang" at that time. Third, “Miryang Arirang” helps to under- stand the historical facts of the anti-Japanese independence movement. Fourth, “Miryang Arirang” helps to understand how to preserve music and cultural heritage and apply it in real life. In the case of music, which is an intangible cultural heritage, its value is preserved when it is actually sung and played by people. In this respect, in order to continuously maintain and preserve the value of “Miryang Arirang” as a World Heritage Site, it is necessary to strengthen the education of actually singing and experiencing “Miryang Arirang” in the music curriculum of regular schools. Finally, as Kodaly argues, 'You should dress folk songs, too.' 'Creative inheritance' is necessary through new re- invention of “Miryang Arirang.” We hope that the results of this study will be helpful to music teach- ers and students who want to preserve “Miryang Arirang” as a music cultural heritage and apply it to real life.
