본고는, 『구사론』에서의 경량부 입장은 유가행파에 대한 세친의 믿음을 반영한 것이라고 주장하는 로버트 크리처(R. Kritzer)의 논문(2003)과 동일한 제목으로, 그는 『유가론』의 상응구를 통해 그 같은 결론에 도달하였지만, 필자는 『구사론』과 동시대의 문헌으로 그것의 비판서이자 廣博한 주석서인 衆賢의 『순정리론』을 통해 19회의 경량부 설 중 먼저 앞의 10가지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 그 결과 네 가지(3, 5, 7, 9)는 분명하게 上座 슈리라타의 설로 확인할 수 있었으며, 세 가지(1, 4, 8)는 그의 설로 충분히 유추할 수 있었다. 더욱이 중현은 이 중의 두 가지(3, 5)는 그의 말(혹은 『經部毘婆沙』로 비정되는 論)에서 인용한 것임을 증언하고 있다. 또한 두 가지(4, 7)는 『바사론』에서 ‘어떤 이’의 설과 의심으로 전해지지만, 그 밖의 네 가지(1, 2, 3, 5)는 비유자 설로 전해진다. 두 가지(8, 9)는 비록 비유자 설로 언급되지 않을지라도 상좌 슈리라타의 설로 확인할 수 있다. 그리고 두 가지(6, 10)는 毘婆沙의 評釋과 正解이기 때문에 경량부와 관련이 없다. 이 같은 사실로 보건대 『구사론』상의 경량부는 일차적으로『바사』의 비유자를 계승한 상좌 슈리라타를 가리킨다고 말할 수 있다.
Abstract
This thesis has the same title as that of the thesis of Robert Kritzer(2003) asserting that the position of Sautrāntika in the Abhidharmakośabhāṣya reflected Vasubandhu’s faith in Yogācāra. He reached the conclusion through a counterpart in Yogācārabhūmi. But I’d like to review the former ten among the 19 theories of Sautrāntika in the Abhidharmakośabhāṣya by examining Saṃghabhadra’s Nyāyānusāra śāstra. I came to obtain the following conclusions.: Four(3, 5, 7 and 9) can clearly be confirmed as Sthavira Śrīlāta’s theories and three(1, 4 and 8) can fully be inferred to be his. Especially Saṃghabhadra attested that two(3 and 5) among the four Sthavira’s are quoted from his words or treaties that it be inferred to Sautrāntikavibhāaṣā. And Mahāvibhāaṣāśāstra says that two(4 and 7) are someone’s theory and doubt, but it is reported that the remaining four(1, 2, 3, and 5) are Dārṣṭāntika’s theories. Two(8 and 9) are not said to be Dārṣṭāntika’s theories, but can be confirmed as Sthavira’s. And two(6 and 10) are unrelated to Sautrāntika because they are Vibhāṣā’s commentary and correct interpretation. Thus, Sautrāntika in the Abhidharmakośabhāṣya primarily refers to Sthavira Śrīlāta succeeding to Dārṣṭāntika in Mahāvibhāaṣāśāstra. Later 9 theories will be reviewed in a second volume of this thesis.
