초록
The issue of the transformation of industrial relations, which is a social mechanism to deal with the industrial conflicts at the varied levels, is still open to a question since there remains ambiguity as to how the transformation should be defined. The industrial relations sit at the core of the social institutions to resolve the labor disputes/conflicts around production and distribution. Prior literature places an emphasis on certain factors such as decline of unionism and decentralized bargaining, but it is largely limited to understanding transformation in terms of industrial relations systems. Taking middle-range approaches and complex adaptive systems theories, the author focuses on delimited but essential nature of industrial relations in order to elucidate transformation. Transformation represents a fundamental change in the essential determinants – governance of production and distribution which are fundamental key factors to cause socio-industrial conflicts in the industrial society. The author developed four different patterns of industrial relations along with two essential determinants, and applied the pattern change model to the Australian case.
