Abstract
This study assumes that monadology of Leibniz and New Media Theory have an isomorphic relationship: this characteristics, significant for the metaphysics of digitality can only be structurally analyzed by the following three-step dialectics: what the present paper is doing as a research topic. The first stage is reduction: Leibniz seeks to reduce the qualitative level of the monad to the quantitative level, with the aim of creating the distinction of being/non-being in thinking. The structural isomorphy is to be found at Manovich, the dual system of option/non-option allows direct interaction between the user and the computer. The second stage is representation: God in the universe of Leibniz gains the complete overview of all possible worlds, from which the option for the best world is realized subsequently. This application corresponds isomorphically to the computer interface, where paradigmatic input and syntagmatic output converge in immediate chain reaction. The third stage is continuity: Manovich tries to simulate the continuity of the phenomenal world by modeling on a synthetic level. This kind of attempt can also be found in Leibniz in the form of interpolation: Methodological feedbacks approach the goal of cognition infinitely. Even if the trials are phenomenally limited, the basic idea anticipates modern digitality in a certain way.
