어거스틴의 자유의지 개념 성립의 맹아적 배경 연구 - 펠라기우스 논쟁 이전의 개념을 중심으로

Abstract

This research is an attempt to understand the early background of the formation of Augustine’s early concept of free will. I think that Augustine’s concept of free will grew up from a fusion of Plotinos’ concept of free will, Augustine’s inner reflection on his own experience of sin and Manicheism. We can say that that background is evident in On Free Will that Augustine wrote at an early stage in his conversion, but the concept of ‘Liberati’ and ‘Liberi’ itself grew up already in the philosophical, religious, and psychological environment before his conversion. This research does not deny preceding research, but it reinforces the philosophical aspects of preceding research by means of emphasizing Plotinos’ philosophy as well as Manicheism. Description, analysis, and inference are modes deployed in this research. Augustine’s idea of free will is described, and Augustine’s inner reflection from his experience and about Plotinos’ free will is analyzed. The early emergence of Augustine’s concept of free will in the point of fusion view in inferred. In this process, the early background of an early concept of free will in Augustine’s through was thus brought to light.
