초록

본 논문은 세 질문에 따라서 막스 스택하우스와 디트리히 본회퍼의 공공신학을 비교분석하고자 한다. 첫째, 공공신학은 무엇인가? (정의) 둘째, 왜 신학은 공적인 영역으로 나가야 하는가? (이유) 셋째, 어떻게 신학은 공적인 영역으로 나아가는가? (방법)스택하우스에게 첫째, 공공신학은 타학문 혹은 타종교와 더불어 대화하는 변증학이자, 기독교 관점에서 인권과 정의와 같은 공적인 사안을 다루는 사회윤리이다. 둘째, 교회와 세상의 주이신 하나님은 세상의 공적인 현실에서 스스로 정의를 실현해나가는 섭리의 하나님이시기 때문에, 신학은 필연적으로 공적이어야 한다. 셋째, 스택하우스의 방법론은 신학이 도덕적이고 영적인 에토스를 형성함으로써 정치, 사회, 경제와 같은 세상의 공적인 영역에도 영향을 미칠 수 있다고 보는 에토스론이다. 본회퍼에게 첫째, 공공신학은 내용적으로 비종교적 기독교 해석에서 찾아지는데, 그의 비종교적 해석은 외적인 형태(형이상학)로나 내적인 형태(개인주의)로 나타나는 현실 도피주의에 반대하면서 공적인 현실에의 참여를 주장한다. 둘째, 신학이 공적이어야 하는 이유는 하나님이 인간이 되시므로 인간의 공적인 현실에 들어오셨다는 데 있다. 셋째, 본회퍼 공공신학의 방법으로서 책임윤리는 부당하게 고통 받는 타자의 현실에 참여하므로 그 현실을 개혁하는 사회변혁의 윤리이다.

Abstract

By raising the following three questions, this article mainly intends to compare and analyse the public theology of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Max L. Stackhouse. (1) What is public theology? (definition of public theology) (2) Why does theology go public? (reason for public theology) (3) How does theology go public? (method of public theology)For Stackhouse, on the one hand, (1) public theology is defined as apologetics and Christian social ethic at the same time. (2) The reason for doing public theology is the sovereignty of God the Lord who leads the world to the just realities of the Kingdom through the divine providential grace. (3) The method of Stakhouse’s public theology is ethology which is interested in the forming the ethos such as world-views and duties. For Bonhoeffer, on the other hand, (1) there is no any formal definition of public theology. Against escapism, however, his public theology concerns the participation of the church in public issues. (2) Theology must go public because God became human which means that God wants human beings to live a truly human life. (3) Bonhoeffer’s method for theology to go public is his famous responsible ethic which mainly focuses on the humanization of those who are suffering by the unjust realities of the world.
