한국 정치 이행기의 기독교 정치 윤리를 향하여: 안병무와 라인홀드 니버의 비교 연구

초록

이 논문은 대표적인 민중 신학자인 안병무의 정치 윤리를 라인홀드 니버의 기독교 현실주의와 비교하여, 독재에서 민주주의로 이행하는 시기에 시민의 권리와 의무를 함양하는 과제에 대한 공헌점을 보여 준다. 안병무의 신학은 한국 사회의 정치적 변화의 배경 하에 이루어졌다. 당시의 사회적 정치적 문제들에 적극적으로 응답하면서, 그는 교회와 국가, 정부, 인권 그리고 민주주의에 대한 그의 사상을 발전시켰다. 안병무는 민주주의와 정치 사회 운동에 대한 민중의 참여를 강력하게 지지한다. 그는 공직자들이 특권층의 부당한 개입에 의해 타락할 수 있다고 판단한다. 민중의 주된 역할은 국가가 인권과 자유를 증진하도록 정부를 감시하는 것이다. 안병무의 사상과 라인홀드 니버의 기독교 현실주의의 비교는 안병무의 주장은 어느정도 유토피아니즘과 같음을 드러낸다. 두 사상가 사이에는 유사점과 동시에 차이점도 있다. 그러나, 여전히 안병무의 신학적 유산은 공(公)에 대한 시민 의식을 발전시키고 사회 정치 운동에 대한 시민의 참여를 증진시키는데 공헌할 수 있다.

Abstract

This paper shows how the political ethics of ByungMu Ahn, one of the representative theologians of Minjung theology, can contribute to cultivating citizenship in the age of transition from dictatorship to democracy by comparing Ahn's ideas with Reinhold Niebuhr's Christian realism. Ahn's theology was established against the background of political change in Korean society. Responding actively to ongoing social and political problems, he developed his ideas on the Church and State, government, human rights, and democracy. In particular, Ahn strongly supports democracy and minjung's participation in political and social movements. He believes that public officials can be easily corrupted by the unjust involvement of the privileged. Minjung's major role is to watch the government, ensuring the state promote human rights and liberty. A comparison of Ahn's argument with Reinhold Niebuhr's Christian realism reveals that Ahn's claims seem somewhat like utopianism. There are both similarities and differences between the two thinkers. Still, Ahn's theological legacy contributes to developing the civic consciousness of the public, which is called Gong(公) by Ahn, and promoting civil engagement in social and political movements.
