예비대학 프로그램 운영 사례를 통해 살펴본 신입생 교양교육 성과와 과제

Abstract

Recently, the pre-college program of four-year college is becoming a part of curriculum to help the freshman to actively prepare for college life. Viewed in a recent environmental changes surrounding college, the pre-college program is in charge of college adjustment, enhancing fundamental academic ability and boosting learning motivation. In Paichai University, aiming to help active adjustment on college learning environment, boost fundamental academic ability, grant understanding of college identity and sense of belonging, grant sense of belonging of college, cultivate excellent students through excellence education for registered students, the school ran 2016 Ju Si-Gyeong Ability Strengthening prerequisite semester and 2017 Nasum activity semester. Each pre-college program based on tutoring program was composed of college identity education, preliminary experience of extracurricular program(certification system), campus tour. In the survey conducted after the program, the program received 4.48 point satisfaction. This indicates prospective freshmen are highly interested in academic program of college, and thus proved that academic program of pre-college is effective in motivating learning in college. Comprehensively, the pre-college program is significant as it is the initial step of effective college life to freshman, and a chance of self-leadership training for the current students. Also, as the program motivates students to have sense of belonging and for their learning, it can contribute to the improvement of quality of college education. Likewise, the pre-college program is clearly effective in reinforcement of fundamental college learning and adjustment of college education. The results indicate the necessity of consistent development and expansion of pre-college program to improve quality of education and actualize the identity of college. Also, considering that the pre-college program should focus on reinforcement of fundamental ability necessary for college education rather than delivery of specific knowledge of major, there is a need to develop systematic programs aiming to reinforce academic ability in the field of liberal education.
