Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the decision-making structure of social enterprises and their economic and social performances. For the analysis, we used the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency’s self-management disclosure data from 2018 to 2020. The size of decision-making organization, the number of operations, and stakeholders’ participation rate were selected as the variable explaning the dicision-making structure of social enterprises. Revenue and operting income to sales were selected as the economic performances. The employment rate of vulnerable groups, the rate of vulnerable recipients, and the amount of social purpose reinvestment were also selected as the social performances. The analysis shows that the decision-making structure of social enterprises has no significant relationship with economic performances. On the other hand, the size of decision-making organizations has a negative relationship with the employment rate of vulnerable groups and the rate of vulnerable recipients. The stakeholders’ participation rate in the board of directors has a positive relationship with the amount of social purpose reinvestment. This study presented the objective analysis results using self-management disclosure data, but failed to take operational processes of the board and other committees into considertation.
