Abstract
The remains of Songjeol-dong, Cheongju, were discovered by the construction of the Cheongju Technopolis Industrial Complex. This is where the non-mobile remains related to the tomb, production, and life of the period of the Three States of Yuan Dynasty and Baekje Period were found to be main remains. In this paper, the Mahan and Baekje remain of Songjeol-dong were divided into tombstones, and living areas to examine their characteristics and changes over time. Then, I have set the landmark remain which is the standard of chronology. A landmark remains is a relic with a distinguishable mark or feature that distinguishes itself from other objects in the remaining complex. In other words, a landmark remain is a representative object that can identify a target and recognize it by distinguishing it from other objects and is archaeologically an indicator of a particular period of branching and cultural change. An ‘Bowls Shaped Pottery’ is the representative signal remain of Songjeol-dong remains. The bowl is divided into 3 units. The first unit bowls are with the round bottom and fall into the period of A.D. 2nd ~ 3rd century. The second unit bowls have its characteristics which are the flat bottom and no pattern and fall into the period of A.D. 3rd and the mid 4th century. And the third unit bowls have a flat bottom and patted of pattern and are fall into the period after the mid 4th century A.D. The Bowls shaped pottery has changed following these units. This variation in the Bowls shaped pottery(鉢形土器) is understood to be an indicator of cultural change in terms of the change of the daily container found in tombs and life relics. In particular, the emergence of the flat bottom steamer, flat bottom pottery, cup with a grip which appears with the third unit(After the mid 4th century A.D.) is a change in archaeological material data transferred from Mahan to Baekje, and the representative landmark remains of which is the Bowls Shaped Pottery
