이 연구는 권위주의 통치성의 관점에서 2000년대 시장화를 배경으로 한 사회변동기 북한 가족의 주체화 전략에 주목한다. 김정은 집권 이후 ‘인민대중제일주의’ 담론을 수행하고 재구조화하는 북한 가족의 역할과 관계 변화를 고찰하였다. 연구 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 고난의 행군과 2009년 화폐개혁을 배경으로 한 시장화의 과정에서 북한 가족이 ‘내 가족의 자력갱생’이라는 생활윤리를 전유하며 당과의 관계를 새롭게 조정하는 양상을 보인다. 둘째, 김정은 정권의 복지 상품화와 가족책임제 등의 기제를 통해 삶의 불안정과 경쟁이 심화되는 현실에서 중산층 가족의 사교육을 통한 계급재생산 전략이 강화되고 있다. 셋째, 사회주의 일상 속에서 시장과 디지털을 매개로 한 청년세대의 개인주의적 수행방식들은 권위주의 통치성의 발현이자 균열을 시사한다. 넷째, 사회주의대가정론과 인민대중제일주의론이 새롭게 조직된 통치담론은 일상에서 경쟁의생활윤리를 실천하며 가족 재생산을 위해 진력하는 북한 가족의 주체화 전략을 통해 실현되는 동시에 재구성된다.
Abstract
This study focuses on the subjectification strategy of North Korean families during the period of social change against the background of marketization in the 2000s from the perspective of authoritarian govermentality. The research findings can be summarized as follows. Firstly, in the process of marketization against the backdrop of the ‘Arduous March’ and the 2009 currency reform, North Korean families appear to be appropriating the life ethic of ‘my family’s self-reliance’ and re-adjusting their relationship with the party. Secondly, the Kim Jong-un regime’s welfare commodification and strengthening of the family responsibility system have intensified life insecurity and competition, and the strategy of class reproduction through private education has intensified, especially among middle-class families. Thirdly, the individualistic performances of the young generation in socialist everyday life through the market and digital media suggest the emergence and cracking of authoritarian govermentality. Fourthly, the reorganized governance discourse, combining socialist family ideology and ‘People-first Socialism,’ is realized and reconstructed through North Korean families’ subjectification strategies in practicing the competitive ethic in daily life for family reproduction.
