Abstract
This paper examines the geopolitical perception of India after independence, and analyzes it with a special focus on the Eurasian strategy, which is the traditional geopolitical strategy of India. The Eurasian strategy is one of the two major geopolitical strategies that India places importance on along with the recently emerging Indo-Pacific strategy, and mainly includes China, Russia, and Central Asia within its scope. Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 is acting as a factor bringing China and Russia closer together, along with the intensification of the US-China and US-Russia conflicts. The competition between great powers in the 21st century, reminiscent of the new Cold War, creates favorable conditions for India. This is because the geopolitical choice of India, which is both a continental state and a maritime state, has emerged as a key variable in determining the success or failure of competition between great powers. Many view the coming future as the G2 era in which the United States and China compete. However, from the perspective of South Korea, which should focus its diplomatic efforts so as not to cast the shadow of a new Cold War on the Korean Peninsula, it is necessary to pay attention to the role of emerging powers such as India and seek strategic interconnection.
