초록

The institution using radiation must have radiation protection equipment under the law,but they must calibrate the equipment in a foreign country. Also, a company related to equipmentdevelopment carries out performance evaluations in a foreign country because equipment performanceevaluations and certification systems are inadequate in the Republic of Korea. Therefore, this studyaims to review the international standard for reference radiation field and assess the suitability of theradiation irradiation system constructed in KARA (Korean Association for Radiation Application). Firstly,we deducted the technical criteria by analyzing international standard documents (ISO 4037-1, IEC 61267). Secondly, we checked whether the radiation irradiation system is suitable for international standardcriteria by characterization assessment. Based on these results, we judged that the radiation irradiationsystem could be used to establish a reference radiation field. Finally, using the radiation irradiationsystem, we built the reference radiation (gamma-ray and X-ray) through the half-value layer test, homogeneity coefficient assessment, and so on. It is expected that reference radiation fields constructedthrough this study will be used in performance evaluation for radiation protection equipment andcontribute to creating the radiation irradiation infrastructure by building additional reference radiationfields. Also, we expect that it will be possible to secure the technology to calibrate and test for radiationinstruments based on the international standard through further research using the radiation irradiationsystem.
