Abstract

The moral purity is the principal, which is the most important inner principle of Chae Man Sik's novels in the Haebang-Gi. He could criticize strongly with moral clean attention against the society which degraded. But when such moral pure sincerity of the measuring stick which is strict become toward to own oneself, the author got out rarely from the headstall of guilt feeling. So the author paid attention abruptly where is territory of the history not of actuality. But when he was toward a history, he fell in to a historic nihilism which rejected a possibility or a hope in the history. During about 2years, he almost never did write except Okrangsa. This fact hints he is much strongly in the historic nihilism which is appearing from Okrangsa. By the way, there is a necessity which we again pay attention to 「Yeoksa」 sequences after Okrangsa. 「Yeoksa」 sequences takes a type that a grandmother speaks to her grandchild about the individual and historical unhappiness which she experiences. Contrary to the historic nihilism which is appearing from Okrangsa, 「Yeoksa」 sequences keeps strong thrust and high pride on affirmative characters in the history. It amounts the author is recursive with moral clean attention to overcome the historic nihilism.
