Abstract
This study aims to analyze demographic factors affecting the level of post-traumatic stress and PTSD in elderly people who have experienced elder abuse trauma in South Korea. To ensure appropriateness and representativeness of the research subject sample, a national survey was conducted in 17 regions, targeting 303 individuals who experienced elder abuse trauma six months after the occurrence of the traumatic event. The analysis revealed that among elderly abuse trauma survivors, 252 individuals experienced full PTSD, and when considering partial PTSD, approximately 90% of the entire group (271 individuals) were found to experience post-traumatic stress disorder. It was observed that gender and subjective perception of mental health significantly influenced post-traumatic stress disorder. Based on the results of the study, suggestions were provided to promote factors affecting post-traumatic stress in elderly abuse victims.
