환경범죄학적 접근을 통한 도시지역과 농촌지역의 절도범죄 발생 원인에 대한 탐색적 연구 : 범죄패턴이론의 범죄 유발장소를 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 상대적으로 외면되어온 농촌지역에서 발생하는 범죄 현상을 환경범죄학의 관점에서 Brantingham과 Brantingham(1995)의 범죄패턴이론에서 제시하고 있는 범죄 유발장소(crime generator)가 절도범죄에 미치는 영향을 탐색하였다. 국내의 선행연구에서 범죄 유발장소와 절도범죄와의 관계는 주로 도시지역에 국한하여 이루어졌다. 따라서 본 연구는 도시지역과 농촌지역을 구분하여 지역적·공간적 차이에 따라 범죄 유발장소가 절도범죄에 미치는 영향이 어떻게 달라지는지 그리고 도시에 적용된 이론이 농촌지역에서 발생하는 절도범죄도 설명할 수 있는지를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 국내의 대표적인 도농복합지역인 경기도를 연구지역으로 선정하였으며, 공개 자료인 생활안전지도 내 절도범죄 발생등급을 활용하였다. 분석결과, 경기도 전역을 대상으로 한 공간회귀분석에서는 농촌지역이 도시지역에 비해 절도범죄 발생등급이 낮았으며, 유흥시설과 오락시설이 많은 지역일수록 절도범죄 발생등급이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 도시지역과 농촌지역을 구분한 순서로지스틱 회귀분석의 경우 도시지역은 유흥시설과 오락시설이 많은 지역일수록 절도범죄 발생등급이 증가하였으나, 농촌지역은 유흥시설과 휴양림·미술관·박물관이 많은 지역일수록 절도범죄 발생등급이 상승하는 것으로 확인되었다. 마지막으로, 본 연구의 결론 및 제언에서는 위와 같은 분석결과를 통해 지역적 특징을 고려한 치안활동을 제언하였다.

Abstract

This study attempted to explain the criminal phenomenon occurring in rural areas, which has been relatively neglected in existing criminology studies, from the perspective of environmental criminology. Among them, the effect of the crime generator suggested in the crime pattern theory of Brantingham and Brantingham (1995) on theft crime was explored. In previous studies at home and abroad, the relationship between the place of crime and theft was mainly conducted in urban areas. Therefore, this study classified urban and rural areas and examined whether the impact of the place of crime on theft varies depending on regional and spatial differences and whether theft crimes occurring in rural areas can be explained. To this end, Gyeonggi-do, a representative urban-rural complex in South Korea, was selected as a research area, and the public data, the grade of theft crime in the safety map, was used. As a result of the analysis, a spatial regression analysis of all Gyeonggi-do showed that rural areas had a lower grade of theft than urban areas, and the more entertainment facilities and entertainment facilities, the higher the grade of theft. In the order of classifying urban and rural areas, in the case of ordinal logistic regression analysis, it was confirmed that the more entertainment facilities and entertainment facilities in urban areas, the higher the theft crime level in rural areas. Finally, in the conclusions and suggestions of this study, security activities considering regional characteristics were proposed through the above analysis results.
