The purpose of this study is to investigate the content of the culture in 5th and 6th grade English textbooks based on 2009 Revised National Curriculum in order to evaluate the strengths and characteristics of every textbook recently approved. The criteria for the cultural content of English textbooks have been specified as 19 components and all the five books published in 2015 were analyzed and examined from various angles such as topics, Moran’s five dimensions of culture (2001), the ratio of different culture groups in terms of Kachru (1996), and finally, whether the cultural content and language activities were integrated or not.
Abstract
