초록
Based on formal and functional understanding of linguistics, the present study is designed to explore the possibilities of extending the functional understanding of linguistics to traditional grammar teaching. First, we talk about the limitations of formal approach to linguistics, pointing out that the formal approach is mainly based on the analysis of sentences. To provide a better insightful understanding of school grammar, it is desired to take the concepts of discourse-functional analysis into consideration. It is expected that linguistic understanding beyond the level of sentence can provide the better insight into what had been ignored in grammar teaching at school. For this, some cases such as pronominalization, emphatic structure and the like are discussed. Finally, this study makes some suggestions for the improved grammar teaching in which discourse considerations should be necessary.
Abstract
Based on formal and functional understanding of linguistics, the present study is designed to explore the possibilities of extending the functional understanding of linguistics to traditional grammar teaching. Finally, this study makes some suggestions for the improved grammar teaching in which discourse considerations should be necessary.
