Abstract

Only a few figures are known about the existence of military official in the Joseon Dynasty, such as Yi Sun-sin and Im Gyeong-eop, and other military leaders and generals who were active in the Imjin War and the Jeongmyo Horan are known. It is thought that the discourse on ‘Martial Arts’ has not been actively pursued in earnest because of the overlapping historical tradition since the Joseon Dynasty, which valued martial arts, with modern memories of Japan's colonial rule, which used ‘the Way of the Warriors’ as a stepping stone for imperialism. Keeping in mind that re-recognition of ‘martial arts’ and revitalization of discourse on ‘martial arts’ are one of the most urgent tasks at this stage, this thesis examines the data on martial arts contained in Geumseokjipcheop (金石集帖) in the library of Kyoto University, Japan. The current situation was reviewed in general. Geumseokjipcheop not only gathered military officials in one place by separately setting up the items of martial arts and martial arts, but also recorded a number of rubbings related to the figures corresponding to military officials in other places. Geumseokjipcheop about 70 military officials are basic data for restoring and reinterpreting the values ​​of warriors in the pre-modern era, which have not been properly illuminated, and understanding the social and cultural status and characteristics of military officials needs to be widely used.
