초록
There are diverse subordinators introducing English finite subordinate clauses but the criteria to classify them are suggested differently in various studies such as Quirk et al.(1985), Biber et al.(1999), and Huddleston & Pullum (2005). The goal of this paper is to classify and explain the subordinators in English finite subordinate clauses according to the systematic and consistent way by using the feature system consisting of [±relative], [±pronominal], [±prepositional] features established based on the major preceding researches and the lexicon including the function of subordinators from the perspective of minimalist. Furthermore, this paper shows the syntactic structures of English finite subordinate clauses categorized as a nominal clause, an adjective clause, and an adverbial clause applying Merge and Adjoin operation to them.
