농악의 문화적 특성으로 본 『한국농악용어사전』 편찬의 한계와 대안

이 연구는 ‘한국농악 용어사전’ 편찬 작업 진행 과정에서 발생하고 있는 문제점들을 드러내어, 그 대처 방안들을 마련해 보는 데에 목적이 있다. 지금까지 농악 전반에 걸친 본격적인 사전은 아직 없는 상황이며, 본 사전은 농악과 직접 관련된 용어 1,500-1,600여 개의 표제어를 다루는 최초의 본격 농악 전문 사전이라는 점에서 그 역사적인 의의와 사전사적 가치가 있다. 그러나 농악사전 편찬 작업에 있어서는 농악이 가지고 있는 몇 가지 문화적 특성에 따라 여러 가지 해결해야 할 문제점들이 발생한다. 좀 더 구체적으로는, 기본 용어들의 기본항 및 보편적 기본체계 설정의 문제, 용어상의 다양한 차이들의 반영과 표제어 설정 처리의 문제, 사전 편찬 당시의 시대-사회적 한계 및 연구 현황의 한계 문제 등이 발생한다. 용어들의 기본항 설정 문제에 있어서는, 해당 분야의 통칭은 ‘농악(農樂)’으로 설정하고, 그 기본체계는 농악의 기본적 구성요소들의 체계로 처리하고자 했다. 농악사전의 표제어 설정 및 해설 문제들로는, 용어들의 총체적인 종합, 다양한 용어들의 표제어화, 표제어들의 보편적 기본항 설정에 따른 처리, 다양한 의미상 차이의 표제어화, 표제어 해설 길이의 적정성 결정 등으로 나누어 기술하였다. 사전 편찬 당시의 시대-사회적 한계 및 연구 현황의 한계를 반영하면서, 언제든지 수정 보완이 가능한 개방적 사전 시스템의 운용 방안을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to reveal the problems that are occurring in the process of compiling the Korean Nong-ak Terminology Dictionary and consider countermeasures. Until now, there is no full-fledged dictionary for Nong-ak in general. This dictionary is the first full-fledged Nong-ak dictionary that deals with 1,500 to 1,600 title words directly related to Nong-ak. In the compilation of Nong-ak dictionaries, various solutions should be made according to the cultural characteristics of Nong-ak. More specifically, there are many problems; decision of elementary item, decision of a universal system, reflection and processing of various differences in terminology, limitations of dictionary compilation and how to overcome it. When it comes to setting the basic terms of the terms, we decide the general name of this field is 'Nong-ak'. And the basic system was treated as a system of basic components of Nong-ak. There are many problems in the setting of headword and exposition of Nongak Dictionary; a comprehensive synthesis of terms, the heading of various terms, setting the universal basic term of headwords, the heading of various differences in meaning, determining the adequacy of length of exposition about headword. Lastly, we described how to overcome the limitations of compilation of Nong-ak dictionary; how to overcome limitations of the research situation, the limits of the differences in the regional distribution of terms, limits of unidentified terms, the limitations of variation, limitations after pre-editing.
