글로벌 시대의 한국학은 한류와 디지털 환경의 변화에 맞춰 자기 갱신이 필요하다. 이를 위해 가장 중요한 것은 연구의 토대를 굳건히 하는 것이다. 첫째, ‘한국판 사고전서’ 편찬과 고문헌 전면 조사를 추진해야 한다. 이는 한국의 주요 고전 문헌을 체계적으로 수집, 정리하는 작업으로, 국가 문화유산을 보존하고 K-콘텐츠의 원천을 확보하는 기반이 될 것이다. 특히 국내외에 흩어져 있는 고문헌에 대한 전면적인 조사를 통해 정확한 총량을 파악하고, 이를 바탕으로 통합적인 디지털 플랫폼을 구축해야 할 것이다. 둘째, 비교 연구를 활성화해야 한다. 한국학은 동아시아를 넘어 다른 문화권과의 비교 연구를 통해 보편성과 특수성을 동시에 탐구하며 학문적 지평을 넓혀야 한다. 아울러 한국인의 고문헌이 해외로 유통된 실상에 대한 조사와 연구도 병행해야 한다. 셋째, 디지털 인문학 기술을 적극적으로 활용해야 한다. 시범적 구상의 하나로 ‘서울전자문화지도’를 제시하였다. 인문학 연구에 첨단 정보기술을 접목하여 새로운 지식정보를 생산하고, 도시사 연구의 방법론을 확장해야 할 것이다. 마지막으로, 이러한 과제를 지속적으로 추진하기 위한 전문 인력 양성이 시급하다. 대학 교육에서 문헌학과 서지학 교육을 강화하고, 전통 과학사 분야 등 새로운 분야의 인재를 확보하여 한국학 연구의 외연을 확대해야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This paper contends that Korean Studies needs to reconfigure itself in response to the rise of the Korean Wave (Hallyu) and the digital revolution. The most crucial task is to strengthen the foundations of research. First, it is imperative to compile a "Korean Siku Quanshu" and conduct a comprehensive survey of old Korean documents. This project, which involves systematically collecting and organizing major classical texts, will not only preserve national cultural heritage but also secure a rich source for K-content. Building upon past efforts, this initiative must leverage cutting-edge digital technologies, such as AI, to maximize efficiency. A full-scale survey of old documents scattered both domestically and internationally is essential to establish an accurate inventory, which will then serve as the basis for an integrated digital platform. Second, the field must actively promote comparative studies. By comparing Korean culture with that of other East Asian and global regions, Korean Studies can expand its academic horizons by exploring both universal and unique aspects. This process requires a critical stance against biased terminologies like "Yuwai Hanji" (Han Chinese texts outside China) and a simultaneous investigation into the global distribution of Korean works. Third, we must embrace digital humanities technologies. As a pilot project, the paper proposes a "Digital Cultural Map of Seoul," which integrates advanced information technology into humanistic research to generate new knowledge and expand the methodologies of urban history. Finally, a key priority is the training of specialized personnel to sustain these initiatives. It is crucial to reinforce education in bibliography and textual studies at the university level and to cultivate new talent in emerging fields like the history of traditional Korean science to broaden the scope of Korean Studies.
