이 논문은 한국 수필문학에 대한 김윤식의 인식과 관점을 고찰하였다. 김윤식 교수는 한국 근대 문학의 거시적 관점에서 수필문학의 위상과 의미를 명확히 하려고 노력했다. 수필에 대한 그의 관심은 수필문학의 본질, 1930년대의 수필문학의 역사 및 이론으로 드러났다. 그는 ‘경험의 1형식과 2형식’이라는 개념을 설정하고 수필의 본질을 탐색한다. 1형식이 경험의 기록 차원이라면 2형식은 경험을 심미적 관점에서 가공한 언어 형식이다. 문학으로서 수필은 2형식을 지향해야 한다고 주장했다. 이 관점은 우리의 수필이 수필가의 개인적인 세부 경험이나 이념을 구현하면서 보편적 수준으로 나아가지 않았다는 사실에 대한 비판에서 출발한다. 그는 1930년대 우리 수필의 미문주의는 한계를 지니지만, 한국 수필문학의 가치를 지키는 방법의 하나였다고 평가했다. 한국 문학사 인식의 대부분이 시와 소설 중심의 장르 우월성에 바탕을 둔 것과는 달리, 김윤식은 수필문학을 문학사의 범주 안에 포함시켜 그 역사적 의의를 규명하려고 노력한 학자였다.
Abstract
Professor Yunsik Kim tried to clarify the status and meaning of essay literature in the macro perspective of Korean modern literature history. This paper examines the perception and perspective of Kim Yun-sik's essay. His interest in essay literature was manifested in the nature of essay literature, the history of essay literature in the 1930s, and essay theory. He said that the first and second forms of experience are two aspects of the essay, and that as literature, the essay should be directed to the "second form." This view is based on the fact that our essay did not go to the universal level, embodying the ideas and spirit of the artist's personal details. He said that the Aesthetic style of the 1930s essayist had some limitations, but that Korean essay literature had value and a way to continue. Unlike many other Korean literary scholars who ignored in Korean literary history recognition or had distorted common sense based on genre superiority centered on poetry and fiction, He was the only scholar who respected essays.
