Abstract

Tales featuring Poeun as an extraordinary individual are called tales of extraordinary Poeun, which never fail to depict the warm heart of Poeun. Since a warm heart is closely connected to personality, tale contents can help to identify elements of personality education. Tale contents present Poeun in two aspects: Poeun having a picture of the future in advance, and Poeun dispelling a ghost with Taoist magic. The characteristics of the two aspects can be arranged in order as follows: Poeun will pursue such values as the law of peace and war, with the attitude of a forward view based on his ability of "predicting the future in advance," to press down his opponents in one action by exercising his remarkable Taoist magic skills. When a good personality is placed to correspond with the eight virtues in the Act on the Promotion of Personality Education, it will correspond with courtesy, responsibility, respect, and consideration. The personality virtues can unfold in the ways of "benefiting the people by suppressing one's selfish interests and desires," "following Gangsang and Cheonri," and "not taking the credit for helping others."
