김내성은 식민지 시기 조선 유일의 전문탐정소설작가이다. 그는 일본 유학 시절, 일본 유력 탐정소설전문잡지의 문예현상모집에 당선된다. 그러나 조선 귀국 후 김내성이 발표한 ‘탐정소설’은 ‘이단(異端)’적인 괴기의 분위기를 강하게 풍기고 있다. 김내성은 왜 이처럼 조선 귀국과 더불어 창작방향을 바꾼 것일까. 이 의문에 대한 답은 일본 탐정문단과의 영향관계를 벗어나서 조선 사회 특유의 문화적 분위기라든가, 조선대중의 취향과의 연결선상에서 얻을 수 있을 것이다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 ‘백백교 사건’으로 상징되는 당시 조선사회의 현실을 세밀하게 분석한 후, 이 현실과의 연관 속에서 김내성 탐정소설의 변모의 원인을 찾아가고 있다.
Abstract
Kim Nae-seong was the only professional detective novelist in Joseon during the colonial period. While studying in Japan, he was elected to recruit literary phenomena for leading Japanese detective novels magazines. However, “Detective Novel,” released by Kim Nae-sung after returning to Joseon, strongly exudes an atmosphere of “heresy.” Why did Kim Nae-seong change his creative direction along with returning to Joseon? The answer to this question can be obtained from the cultural atmosphere unique to Joseon society or the connection with the tastes of the Joseon people beyond the influence relationship with the Japanese detective corps. Therefore, in this study, after a detailed analysis of the reality of Joseon society at the time, symbolized by the “Baekbaekgyo case”. we are looking for the cause of transfiguration Detective Fictiohe of Kim Nae-sung's novel in connection with this reality.
