Abstract
The purpose of this study is to collect qualitative studies that can capture the phenomena of the mindfulness meditation experience process, and to comprehensively analyze the mindfulness meditation experience process to view the experiences of various participants as a whole. To this end, 10 academic journals published in Korea for 11 years from 2011 to 2022 with KCI listing candidates or higher were selected. A total of 383 semantic units were derived by collecting the semantic units reported by the research participants presented in each of the selected papers, and they were analyzed through Giorgi's data analysis procedure. As a result of the study, first, in the process of meditation experience, 3 topics (Practical understanding of meditation, Increase in awareness, Meditation effect), 7 upper categories, and 37 categories were generated. Second, as a result of synthesizing the meditation experiences of various participants, differences were confirmed in the process of meditation experience according to the meditation training period. Research participants who fall into the category of revealing wisdom and compassion are meditation practitioners who have been practicing meditation for more than 5 years and have seen the principles of impermanence, selflessness, and inter dependent relationship, increased compassion, and developed a virtuous mind that sees them as they are, escaping from notions and concepts. Based on these findings, a discussion of mindfulness meditation research and practice was provided.
