아나포라(anaphora)의 관점에서 본 칼빈의 성찬론

Abstract

This monograph comprises a research on the Eucharist of Calvin from the perspective of Anaphora. At the outset, one may say that Anaphora is a series of liturgical Eucharist Prayers in the execution of communion rite. Despite its differences in terms of order and minor details viz peculiar church traditions and theologies, most of the Christian churches that observe the communion from early to present have commonly been carrying out Anaphora as part of Eucharist. And it's of utmost importance to understand that Anaphora is itself not only a liturgical component of Eucharist but a summa of Eucharistic theology substantiated since the time of early church. As a result, many representing theologians of churches that render Eucharistic theology have enforced its peculiarity in light of Anaphora On the one hand, depending on their theological emphasis,their Eucharistic theology has selectively imported the elements of Anaphora while on the other incorporating their theological propositions into it. Calvin has developed the main theological elements of Anaphora with the leverage. He could argue that our soul unites with Christ in heaven by means of sursum corda. And through epiclesis, praying for the presence of the spirit of Christ in the place of Eucharist, the union of Christ and saints upon the foundation of spiritual presence. In this way, Calvin was able in terms of his own Eucharistic theology to fully actualize individual theological values contained in Anaphora. At the same time, by emphasizing the space aspect of the Christ's humanity, Calvin was able to articulate a balanced Eucharistic theology with a possibility open for eschatological Parousia. This makes us to conclude that Calvin's theological exposition on Eucharist, such as the heavenly union with Christ through the ascension of soul and the condescension of the Holy Spirit in the place of Communion on earth, was the outcome of an excellent theological application of Anaphora.
