Abstract
In the reality of crime that is being raging, intelligent, and intense, the existing countermeasures of the criminal justice authorities were resolved in response to the crime. So there is a need for a strategy to prevent crime in advance. In this regard, CPTED techniques as a crime prevention strategy is studied. By looking at this, the study aims to prove that the culture and ideas of our ancestors in relation to housing, living space, and auxiliary facilities are already applying CPTED techniques. And it will serve to prove the excellence of our traditional culture and traditional ideas by finding various forms and elements of CPTED techniques that were already embedded in our traditional culture and ideas. In the study, the application principles of CPTED techniques were divided into six categories, and are as follows. First, from a surveillance perspective, the existence of organic village roads, fences, family head office, and Terjudaegam(the Spiritual milord as god of the house) can be seen as containing the principle of crime prevention through visibility. Second, from the point of view of access control, from the village location, BaesanImsu(mountain in the back and a river in the front) which on the principle of the theory of divination based on topography, Jangseung and Sotdae at the entrance of the village, and Dangsanmok, the tree of the role of the village guardian god, serve as the control of access to strangers entering and leaving the village. Third, from the perspective of territoriality reinforcement, it can be seen that BaesanImsu and Sashinsan Mountain(four gods of protection), the village walls, and the walls of the capital city play a role in strengthening the territoriality. Fourth, from the perspective of activity support, the use of a well, which can be called a public place in a village, a laundry area around the village, a pavilion, a village sports event, and a village walkway where joint events such as social events are held. Fifth, from the perspective of legibility reinforcement, the village's location, BaesanImsu and Sashinsan Mountain, played a role in strengthening the clarity at the same time. And village roads, which stretch out like branches of trees, which are common in traditional villages, play such a role. Sixth, from the perspective of maintenance management, most of the principles are completed by human factors, this can be seen as the case in Korean traditional culture, such as HyangYak (village code) and Dure(farmers' cooperative group), and the village management centered on the village. Especially in recent years, urban development and urban regeneration have become a hot topic in Korean society. It is more meaningful to pursue a crime prevention strategy that adds to our traditional elements here and this study provides a theoretical basis for this.
