1920년대 쇤베르크(Arnold Schoenberg, 1874-1951)와의 결별 후 아이슬러(Hanns Eisler, 1898-1962)는 1930년대에 다시 음렬음악을 수용한다. <파르나수스로 오르는 계단(Gradus ad Parnassum, op. 44)>(1934)와 <B-A-C-H에 의한 전주곡과 푸가(Praeludium und Fuge über BACH für Streichtrio, op. 46)>(1934)은 1930년대에 교육적 목적으로 작곡된 아이슬러의 첫 음렬음악으로 조성음악의 기본 소재이자 음렬음악에서는 다소 새로운 아이디어인 “협화”가 사용된 작품이다. 본 논문에서는 이들 두 곡에서 협화가 어떻게 배치되는지 분석하였다. 아이슬러는 협화를 드러내기 위하여 구조음과 장식음의 위계관계가 나타나도록 음렬을 세팅하였으며, 3화음적 음향과 조성적 암시가 나타나도록 음렬을 배치한다. 폭넓은 청취자들을 항상 고려하였던 아이슬러는 이러한 협화적 음향을 통하여 그의 음악적 가치관인 대중성을 음렬음악에서 성취했던 것이다.
Abstract
After renouncing the serial technique of his teacher Arnold Schoenberg (1874-1951) in 1926, Hanns Eisler(1898-1962) embraced it again in his music in the 1930s. Gradus ad Parnassum, op. 44(1934) and Praeludium und Fuge über BACH für Streichtrio, op. 46(1934), composed for pedagogical purposes in 1930s, are noticeably filled with consonance, a fundamental musical component in tonal music and a somewhat new idea in serial music. This paper examines how the composer handles the series to expose the consonance in serial music. In order to immerse the consonance, Eisler sets series to show the hierarchical relationship between the structural and embellished notes, arranging the series to reveal consonant intervals, triadic sonority, and even tonal implication. Eisler, who was always mindful of a wider audience, achieved his musical values, popularity, in serial music through the consonant sound.
