본 연구는 2016년 4월 4일부터 15일까지 서울소재 한 사립 대학교 대학생 311명(음대생 189명, 일반대생 122명)을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여, 부모의 음악적 배경과 대학생들의 음악적 특성과의 관련성을 살펴보고, 대학생들의 음악적 특성이 향후 자녀의 악기교육 의향에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 분석한 것이다. 연구결과, 부모의 음악적 배경과 대학생의 악기교육 활동 및 인식도에는 상관성이있었으며, 로지스틱 회귀분석 결과에서는 악기교육효과 인식도와 같은 대학생의 음악적 특성이 향후 자녀의 악기교육 의향에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인이었다. 따라서 미래 세대의 악기교육 활성화를 위해서는 부모의 클래식 음악에 대한 관심 내지 악기교육 효과에 대한 인식도를 제고하는 방안이 필요하다 하겠다.
Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between South Korean college students’ musical characteristics and the intention to educate their children in instrumental music. We analyzed data collected from a survey that was conducted by the authors between April 4 and 15, 2016, involving 311 college students from a university in South Korea. The findings showed that parents’ involvement was significantly related to instrumental music education among South Korean college students. Further, the multiple logistic regression analysis showed that the perception of the effects on instrumental music education was a significant factor influencing the intention to educate their children in instrumental music. The findings imply that efforts are needed to encourage parents to be involved in their children’s instrumental music participation and to highlight the effects of instrumental music playing.
