초록
Víctor Erice who is a film critic and directed two feature films that metaphorically represent Spanish young generation isolated from their parent generation under Franco’s dictatorship. This study focuses on his films <El espíritu de la colmena(The Spirit of Beehive)> and <El Sur(The South)> not as Spanish metaphorical films’ tradition but their narrative and esthetical direction to maximize characters’ isolation and rupture of relationship. Erice achieved his own realistic style as embodying isolated real world and dialogical fantastic world in the same film. In his style,he didn’t just intend to imitate the form of neo-realistic film style and baroque painting but develop it in the embodiment of character’s alienation. Also, this study explains how Erice framed fragmental characters’ gazes and that the gazes meant rupture of main role characters’ relationships and have to do with an narrative of isolation. His realistic style, fragmental gazes and narrative of isolation is maximized until the last end. That emphasizes the moments of humanistic dialogue and needs of communication in the film’s last scene strategically.
