김동리의 ｢무녀도｣는 고전으로서 현대인에게 영성에 대한 성찰의 기회를 제공한다. 작품에 나타난 무속과 기독교라는 두 종교 사이의 대립에는 정치적 영성이 충돌하고 있으며, 이것은 내전으로 작동한다. 무녀 모화의 ‘오이코스’라는 사적 영역에 기독교인 욱이가 ‘폴리스’라는 공적 영역으로 침입한다. 그러나 욱이는 모화의 친자인 이유로 모화의 오이코스에도 속하는 인물이며, 이 오이코스 안에서 내전의 당사자가 된다. 내전을 의미하는 그리스어 ‘스타시스’는 오이코스와 폴리스 사이에서 해체와 재구성을 가능하게 하는 공간이다. 내전의 공간은 무의식과 유동적 지성의 자유로운 활동을 담보하며, 신화적 사고를 통한 대칭성의 우주관을 확보하게 하는 새로운 출발점이다. 대칭성의 사유는 주체와 타자 사이의 관계론적 의미를 반영하며, 우주론적 관점에서 사회적 영성과 그 맥락이 맞닿아 있다. 「무녀도｣는 비대칭성이 극단으로 활성화된 과학기술 시대에 영성 성찰을 통한 인간다움의 관계 회복에 대한 예술적 상상력과 사유를 제공한다.
Abstract
This article explores the significance of spirituality in Kim Dong-ri’s Munyeod. While most previous studies on the short story have focused on the confrontation of Shamanism and Christianity, it is necessary to recognize how this conflict is also one that manifests as a collision of political spiritualities, operating as civil war. The Christian figure Ugi invades the private domain, the oikos of the shaman Mohwa as a representative of the public sphere (polis), yet paradoxically belongs to Mohwa’s oikos as her biological son, becoming a participant in this internal conflict. This space of civil war serves a starting point for securing a cosmological worldview of mythical thinking based on symmetry. Symmetrical thinking empowers human beings to reflect on mythological thinking, and strengthens the importance of social spirituality. The recovery of social spirituality is urgent especially in the era of digital technology. Munyeodo, intrinsically, portrays the literary vision of spirituality.
