부모의 양육태도가 아동의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향: 거부민감성의 매개효과

초록

이 연구는 부모의 양육태도와 자아존중감과의 관계에서 거부민감성의 매개효과를 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 경상남도 소재 초등학교 5, 6학년 아동 533명에게 부모의 양육태도, 거부민감성, 자아존중감 척도를 실시하였고 도출된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 각 변인 간 상관분석을 결과 부모의 양육태도와 거부민감성, 자아존중감 간에는 유의미한 상관이 있었다. 부모의 양육태도는 거부민감성과는 부적 상관, 자아존중감과는 정적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 부모의 양육태도와 자아존중감과의 관계에서 거부민감성의 매개효과를 살펴본 결과, 부모의 양육태도가 거부민감성에 영향을 주어 다시 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 매개효과가 유의한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한, 이 연구에서 설정한 양육태도별 매개경로 중 적대적 양육태도, 통제적 양육태도는 완전매개모형이 지지되었고, 비성취적, 비합리적 양육태도의 경우는 부분매개모형이 지지되었다. 이는 양육태도 영역이 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 거부민감성이 매개하는 유의미한 경로를 밝혀냈다는 점에서 의미가 있을 뿐만 아니라 부모의 양육태도별로 자아존중감에 미치는 영향의 크기와 매개경로가 다르다는 점을 알아내어 아동이 지각하는 부모의 양육태도별로 다양한 교육적 개입전략을 세우는데 좋은 기초자료가 될 것으로 판단된다. 마지막으로 이 연구의 결과를 기존의 연구결과와 비교하고 연구의 시사점과 제한점을 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating effects of rejection sensitivity on relationships between negative parenting attitude and self-esteem. For this study, data was collected from 529 elementary school students in the fifth and sixth grades in Gyeongsangnam-do by researching the measure of parenting attitude, rejection sensitivity and self-esteem. The conclusion of this study is summarized as follows. First, the correlation coefficient between variables demonstrated the relationship among negative parenting attitude, rejection sensitivity and self-esteem. negative parenting attitude expresses the positive correlations with rejection sensitivity but negative parenting attitude shows the negative correlation with self-esteem. Second, the study about rejection sensitivity's mediator effect in negative parenting attitude and self esteem shows the significance of the simple mediating effect which means that negative parenting attitude gives an influence on rejection sensitivity and self-esteem too. Also, a sectional mediated model of mediated pathways set in this study has shown to be a better fit than a perfect mediated model as an alternative model. It means that negative parenting attitude does not have a direct negative influence on self-esteem but has an negative influence on self-esteem by increasing a child's rejection sensitivity in a roundabout way. Also, children who experience negative parenting attitude in their early life have a highly sensitive cognitive weakness for rejection. So, they have low self-esteem because their self worth is low and then they do not consider themselves as valuable due to repeated instances of rejection. Lastly, The results were compared with previous studies and the implication and limitation were discussed.
