2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 초등학교 교과서의 창의성 요소분석: 과학과, 영어과, 미술과, 음악과를 중심으로

On Analysing Creativity of Primary Textbooks based on the 2015 Revised National Curriculum: Focused on the Textbooks of Science, English, Art, and Music

초록

본 연구의 목적은 창의성의 영역 특이성에 기초하여 교과별 창의성 요소를 정련하여 제시하고, 해당요소를 분석 기준으로 하여 ‘2015 개정 교육과정’에 따른 초등학교 교과서를 분석하는 데에 있다. 초등학교 교육과정에 편제되어 있는 교과는 거의 모든 학문 분야를 망라하고 있는 만큼, 모든 교과서를 분석하는 것은 본 연구의 범위를 벗어난다. 이에 본 연구에서는 시간적 제약과 함께 창의성 함양과의 관련성을 고려하여 초등학교 6학년 ‘과학’, ‘음악’, ‘미술’, 그리고 여기에 덧붙여서 ‘영어’ 교과를 분석 대상으로 삼고 이 중 일부 내용을 집중적으로 분석하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째로, 초등학교 6학년 과학 교과서의 내용은 과학 창의성 요소 중 ‘과학 지식’, ‘기초탐구과정기능’을 요구하는 활동에 치우쳐 있으며, ‘통합탐구기능’, ‘창의적 사고’, ‘문제 해결력’을 요구하는 활동은 상대적으로 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째로, 영어 교과서의 경우 ‘수렴적 사고’가 압도적으로 많이 요구되고 있었고, 여기에비하여 ‘확산적 사고’가 요구되는 경우는 상대적으로 적었다. 셋째로, 미술 교과서의 경우 인지적 요소중 ‘시각적 사고력’, ‘연결적 사고력’과 정의적 요소의 ‘과제집착력’, ‘소통·협력’ 요소는 각 단원에서 대체로 골고루 포함되어 있었지만, 인지적 요소 중 ‘공간지각력’, ‘문제해결력’, ‘융통성’, ‘유창성’ 및 정의적 요소 중 ‘내적 의지’ 와 ‘자아존중감’ 요소는 일부 단원에 한정되는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 음악 교과서는, 교과서를 발행한 출판사별로 강조점에 다소 차이가 있었지만, 대체로 말하여 음악 창의성과 관련된 요소를 각 단원에 고르게 반영하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 한편, 이러한 분석결과가 창의성 교육과 관련하여 제시하는 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째로, 각 교과 영역별 창의성 요소는 해당 교과를 통한 창의성 함양에 필수불가결하게 요청되는 만큼, 향후 초등학교 과학, 음악, 미술, 영어 교과의내용은 창의성의 다양한 요소를 골고루 반영할 수 있도록 선정될 필요가 있다. 둘째로, 각 교과 영역별창의성 요소 사이에는 차별성뿐만 아니라 공통성도 있는 만큼, 교과 영역을 넘어서는 범교과적 창의성함양 방안, 또는 학제 간 창의성 함양을 위한 활동 방안을 보다 적극적으로 모색할 필요가 있다. 창의성이 영역 특이성을 지닌 특수 창의성과 함께 영역을 가로지르는 공통성을 가지고 있다는 점을 감안하면,이러한 방안은 향후 초등학생의 ‘창의성 함양 공통 모형’을 정립하는 데에 기여할 것으로 예상된다.

Abstract

The purposes of this paper are to suggest components of creativity for primary learners, and toanalyze activities for fostering learners’ creativity in primary textbooks based on the 2015 RevisedNational Curriculum. To achieve this, definitions of creativity based on previous research werepresented, and the sixth grade primary school textbooks were analysed in the aspect of creativity. The findings are as follows: (1) In the textbook of science, activities of knowledge and basic inquiryskills were presented significantly in relation to other activities, but those of integrated inquiry skills,creative thinking skills, and problem solving abilities were devised insufficiently. (2) In the textbookof English, activities of convergent thinking were composed predominently, but those of divergentthinking were relatively smaller than any other activities. (3) In the textbook of art, there wereactivities equivalently and consistently developed for visual thinking, connective thinking power, taskcompeting power, and collaboration, but in some parts of units, there are activities unequivalentlydeveloped for spatio-perception, problem-solving, flexibility, fluency, internal volition, andself-respect. (4) In the textbook of music, classroom activities for fostering learners’ creativity weredeveloped equivalently, although there are some differences among the textbooks in developingactivities for creativity. From the findings, it was suggested that classroom activities and tasks forfostering learners’ creativity and critical thinking should be developed systematically, and programsand  teaching-learning methods based on the classroom activities and tasks need to be implementedin primary classes appropriately and effectively.
