Abstract
This study focused on elementary school teachers’perceptions of the conceptual factors and the importance of good instructional practices. A survey and an interview with 65 elementary school teachers yielded 35 final statements. The statements were then categorized, and a concept map was created using multidimensional scaling analyses and cluster analyses. Elementary school teachers view “good instructional practices” through two lenses: the “teacher–student centered” learning perspective axis and “instructional strategy-design” instructional method axis, which is divided into six clusters. In particular, the significantly important instructions are those with active interaction between educational subjects and student participation; those that develop the necessary competency for students; those that consider students' interests and readiness; those that are clear, structured, and systematic; those that offer stability with high teaching efficacy; those with high teaching efficacy, flexibility, and diversity. This study provides basic data to improve understanding of good instructional practices in elementary schools and develops a model of good instructional practices. Furthermore, it can serve as a foundation for research to ensure elementary school teachers' teaching expertise and qualitative excellence in teaching.
