교육대학교 교수가 경험한 연구 열정에 영향을 미치는 환경 요인: 공동 자문화기술지 연구

초록

이 연구에서는 수도권에 위치한 한 교육대학교의 교수 5명을 대상으로 연구 열정에 영향을 주는 환경 요인에 대해 심층 집단면담을 실시하고, 공동 자문화기술지 방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 열정 이원론에 입각하여 바라본 연구 열정은, 연구와 관련된 활동을 좋아하고 중요하게 생각하며 시간과 에너지를 투자하는 것으로 정의된다. 면담 자료의 분석 결과, 교육대학교 교수들의 연구 열정에 관여하는 환경 특성은 크게 세 가지로 나타났다. 첫째, 참여자들은 교육대학교의 특수한 행정 체제나 보상체제로 인한 조직 문화가 연구 열정에 영향을 준다고 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 교사 양성대학으로서 교육대학교가 지닌 특성(예: 현장 지향적 연구에 대한 요구, 현직 교사인 대학원생들을 위한 논문지도등) 또한 교수들의 연구 열정에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 즉 교수들은 현장성 높은 연구를위해 고민하고 이를 실행하는 한편, 자신의 연구 주제를 현장 전문가들에게 더 알려 이들의 이해를 높이려고 하는 등 교사 양성대학으로서의 맥락과 연구자로서의 정체성을 교차시키며 연구 열정을 발휘하고 있었다. 셋째, 참여자들은 대학의 학문 문화가 자신의 연구 열정에 미치는 영향에 대해 논의하였는데, 현장 연구를 위한 융합적 교류가 활발한 점을 강점으로, 깊이 있는 학문적 탐구나 최신 연구를위한 외부 협력 활동이 부족한 것을 단점으로 인식하였다. 본 연구는 대학교수가 연구 열정을 발휘함에 있어서 이들의 실제 경험을 바탕으로 질적으로 분석하고 그 환경 요인에 대해 탐색하였다는 의의가 있으며, 연구 결과는 교육대학교 구성원들의 연구 열정을 높일 수 있는 실천적 시사점을 제공할 수있다.

Abstract

This study involved conducting in-depth group interviews with five professors at a university of education in the metropolitan area. The purpose was to explore the environmental factors that influence research passion. The analysis of the data was conducted using collaborative auto-ethnography. The study identified three primary environmental factors that influenced the research passion of professors at universities of education. First, the participants acknowledged that the administrative system of the university of education and the resulting organizational culture, influenced by the compensation system, had an impact on their research passion. Second, the distinct characteristics of the teacher training university (e.g., demand for field-oriented research and thesis guidance for graduate students who are current teachers) were observed to impact professors’ research passion. Professors at a teacher training university showcased their passion for research by integrating their role as educators with their identity as researchers. They accomplished this by conducting highly relevant research to their field and by sharing their research topics with students to enhance their expertise. Third, the participants discussed the impact of academic culture of university on their research passion. The presence of dynamic knowledge exchange in the field of research is regarded as a strong point, whereas the absence of in-depth academic exploration or external collaborative endeavors in recent research is a shortcoming. This study is significant because it conducted a qualitative analysis and exploration of environmental factors, focusing on the passionate experiences of university professors. The present study also offers practical implications that can enhance the research passion among university professors in the field of education.
