Abstract
The aim of this study is to carry out the contrastive analysis between two Polish prepositional phrases [po + N-B.], [na + N-B.] and two Korean objective conjunctive endings ‘-le’, ‘-lyeko’ and to indicate glottodidactical aspects of teaching them to Korean learners of Polish language. In Korean language, the purpose of action of movement is expressed with a complex sentence by two endings namely ‘-le’ and ‘-lyeko’. The action of the first clause expresses the purpose of the verb of motion which appears in the second clause. However, in Polish language the same purpose can be expressed with a simple sentence by two prepositional phrases such as [po + N-B.] and [na + N-B.]. The above mentioned syntactical differences between both languages make it difficult to many Korean learners studying Polish as a foreign language to understand and use those two prepositional phrases correctly. The second chapter consists of two sections. The first one describes the general usage of two Polish prepositions ‘po’ and ‘na’ along with their various functions. However, it concentrates mainly on the meaning of purpose which the two prepositions obtain in a prepositional phrase. Accordingly, [po + N-B.] means ‘in order to get or to take something' e.g. Idę do sklepu po mleko.(I'm going to shop for milk.) and [na + N-B.] means ‘in order to participate in something' e.g. Wpadnę jutro na kawę.(Tomorrow I will drop in for [a cup of] coffee). The second section contains the analysis of the semantic categories of nouns, which form prepositional phrases with those two prepositions, on the basis of a considerable number of examples exB.] med from Polish g.]mmar texBbooks for foreigners. It also explains the differences in meaning between two prepositional phrases mentioned above. The third chapter describes two objective conjunctive endings ‘-le’ and ‘-lyeko’ in Korean. It also focuses on syntactical restrictions and semantic differences between them. The last chapter contains the contrastive analysis between Polish prepositional phrases [po + N-B.] and [na + N-B.] and Korean objective conjunctive endings ‘-le’ and ‘-lyeko’. It also indicates several effective methods of teaching Korean learners the semantic differences between those two prepositional phrases and their proper usage.
