이 연구는 고유명사를 구성 성분으로 포함하고 있는 전문용어를 수집하여 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이에 전문용어의 구조를 분석하여 의미적 특징을 확인하고 전문용어 형성의 방식을 형태론적으로 접근하여 살펴보고자 한다. 위와 같은 목표를 달성하기 위해 2장에서 고유명사와 전문용어의 개념과 범위를 다룬 선행연구를 검토한다. 3장에서는 연구 대상이 되는 전문용어를 추출하는 방식에 대해 설명하고 그 유형적 특징을 개략적으로 살펴본다. 그리고 이 절차를 총 4단계의 절차를 도식화하였으며 자료를 데이터베이스화하고 계량적으로 정리하였다. 4장에서는 전문용어의 특징을 의미적인 방식으로 분석하고 형성의 방식을 살펴보았다. 전문용어는 언어의 일부이기 때문에 일반 어휘와 동일한 생성 과정을 거친다. 합성 및 파생의 방식이 주로 사용되지만 통사적 구성인 구나 문장 등으로도 전문용어가 만들어진다. 요컨대 본 연구에서는 전문용어를 분석하여 합성, 파생, 기타의 방식으로 구분지어 그 특징을 살펴보았다. 그리고 각 분야의 다양한 전문용어를 분석함으로써 조어 방법에 대한 포괄적인 분석을 제공하였다는 데에 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study explores the process of forming technical terminology using proper nouns and focuses on uncovering the unique characteristics of these coined words. The research methodology involves a comprehensive review and summary of technical term definitions in Chapter 2, followed by an explanation of the approach used to extract and analyze the terms in Chapter 3. This process is outlined in a four-step diagram, and the data is meticulously organized and converted into a database. Chapter 4 examines the process of creating organized terminology, which is a crucial aspect of the study. Since technical terms are a part of language, they undergo the same process of creation as language itself. The methods used for coining words, such as synthesis, derivation, and other well-known techniques, are predominantly employed for technical terms. However, technical terms can also be expressed in phrases and sentences, which differentiates them from the methods used for general language. This study classifies technical terms into synthesis, derivation, and other methods to gain insights into their characteristics. In summary, this study offers valuable insights into the formation of technical terminology using proper nouns. The research sheds light on the nuanced differences between the creation of technical terms and general language, providing a comprehensive analysis of the coined methods used.
