Abstract

The status and role of women in central asian local communitieshad began to change since in imperial russian colonial period and itrapidly developed in soviet central asian period. In the analysis onthe status of women in Central Asian communities most analysisfocus on the influence of islamic factors and russian factors, becauseislam had influenced on Central Asian community since in the middleof 7th century and russian culture also influenced in central asiansociety from beginning of 18th century. In this analysis thedifferences of islamic factors and social influences among variouscentral asian communities. Central asian regions traditionally had divided as the area ofagricultural sedentary-civilization and nomadic areas. This factor istightly related with acceptance of Islam in Central Asia. Islamspreaded and influenced into the agricultural-trade-based zones andits’ spreading changed social culture of settled communities. Contrasting with the changes of settlements areas, islamic cultures inthe nomadic zones did not influenced and changed local communities, because most kazakh nomadic areas firstly accepted Islam after 18thCentury via russian-tatar islam missioners as a new pattern ofeveryday life, not as a new religion. This cultural and islamic features had influenced into the Soviet central asian periods and it broke out conflicts between islamictraditional groups and supporters of soviet social reformation processin the beginning of 1920ties. The degree of linkage to the Islam innomadic and non-nomadic of community reflected into the flexibilityof women role and status in central asian indigenous ethnic groups.
