Abstract

In the current moral education, virtue education still implies a valid academic foundation and meaning, and is being developed as an educational effort to pursue humanity while leading discussions related to moral virtues, character, and personality. Ideal person(Gunja), a moral utopia in the traditional era, revered the Tao of Confucianism and performed a social role with full knowledge. The basics of Dasan's theory of ideal person, which contains practical ethical characteristics, is virtue. In order to be equipped with qualities and virtue, ideal person must have honesty as the direction of his heart, and he must cultivate himself in order to build justice as values and virtues. Prior research on 'Ideal person' based on the 『Confucian Analects』 as the basic text has been conducted in a wide variety, but most agree that Confucian ideals are sublimated to moralism. Virtue education based on the traditional Confucianism is understood as an integrated structure and approach, and from a more fundamental level of qualities of ideal person, understanding justice as a core value and virtue to equip honesty and moral qualities related to the heart is a characteristic of Dasan's theory of ideal person that emphasizes practicality.
