본 연구는 사주명리학의 격국론 중 재격(財格)에 주목하여, 그 이론적 전개와 체계화 과정을 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 기존 연구들은 주로 격국 전반을 개관적으로 다루었으며 재격은 부차적으로 언급되는 수준에 머물렀다. 그러나 재격은 단순히 재물의 많고 적음을 판단하는 개념이 아니라, 부의 형성과 운용 능력을 포괄하는 구조적 체계로서 독립적 연구의 필요성이 크다. 이에 본 연구는 자평명리학의 시작이자 신법명리학의 출발점인 송대(宋代)의 명통부(命通賦)와 자평삼명통변연원(子平三命通變淵源)을 주요 분석 대상으로 삼았다. 명통부(命通賦)는 격국을 체계화하기 이전 단계의 저술로, 낭송(朗誦)을 목적으로 한 운문 형식의 구성으로 되어 있으며 재격을 독립적으로 해설하지 않았다. 반면 자평삼명통변연원(子平三命通變淵源)은 십팔격(十八格) 체계를 정비하여 간명입식(看命入式)에서는 정재격(正財格)과 편재격(偏財格)을 명확히 구분함으로써 재격을 자립적인 구조로 발전시켰다. 본 연구는 두 저술의 서술 구조와 격국 분류 방식을 비교함으로써, 재격이 단순한 나열적 서술에서 이론적 체계로 전환되는 과정을 규명하였다. 그 결과, 송대 명리학은 재격론을 통해 부(富)의 형성과 인간 역량의 관계를 설명하는 학문적 기반을 마련하였음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 재격의 사상적 발전 단계를 명확히 함으로써 향후 명리학의 구조적 연구와 현대 재물론 해석의 기초를 제공한다.
Abstract
This study examines the jaegeok(財格, wealth configuration) within the configuration theory of Four Pillars (Saju), with the aim of clarifying its theoretical development and systematization. Prior research has largely surveyed configurations as a whole, treating jaegeokonly in passing. Yet jaegeokis not a notion that merely gauges the amount of wealth; it is a structural framework that encompasses the formation of wealth and the capacity to deploy it, warranting focused inquiry. To this end, the paper analyzes two Song-dynasty sources at the inception of Ziping/Sinbeop approaches: Mingtongfu(明通賦) and Ziping Sanming Tongbian Yuanyuan(子平三命通變淵源). The former represents a pre-systematic, mnemonic verse compendium that does not independently explicate jaegeok, whereas the latter consolidates an eighteen-configuration (十八格) scheme and, within the entry protocol for judgment, distinguishes Direct Wealth(正財) from Indirect Wealth(偏財), thereby advancing jaegeokas an autonomous structure. By comparing their narrative architecture and typologies, the study traces the shift from enumerative description to theoretical system. The findings indicate that Song-era Saju established a scholarly basis for explaining the relationship between the formation of wealth and human capability through jaegeok. By clarifying the stages of its intellectual development, this study provides a foundation for subsequent structural research in Saju and for a modern, academically grounded interpretation of wealth.
