Historically the modern civilization of the Russian Far East, sharing borders with and encountering many other neighboring countries, was formed amid transnational contacts and collisions. In other words, it has rich experiences worth restoring through the trans-boundary perspectives of critical regionalism in the era of globalization. Nevertheless, the Russian Far East has been consistently left out of Korean critical regionalism, mainly ChangBi’s East Asia discourse. Regarding this problem, this article aims to examine briefly the trans-boundary perspectives of critical regionalism by comparing globalization and regionalism to explain the meaning of the lack of attention to Russia and its Far East in ChangBi’s discourse. Finally, it will investigate the necessity and possibility of the imagination of the Russian Far East in the process of the realization of peace in East Asia.
Abstract
