초록

This paper addresses security reorganization and the role of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in the Eurasian periphery. In recent years, NATO and the EU have expanded their influence to the periphery of Eurasia. In response, Russia has sought to increase its influence in the Rimland area, including Georgia and Ukraine, causing fluctuations in the area’s geopolitical security. Russia has also pursued a double strategy through the CTSO, seeking to prevent further NATO and EU expansion while controlling Chinalliinfluence in central Asia. Though Russia has increased the CSTOeased edAsia. Though Russia has egy asiatuation in Ukraine and low commoda conflict zone. This is because Russia has been cautious about CTSO involvement. As many countries are members of both the CSTO and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), merging the two institutions has been considered. Though the role of the CTO alone is not significant, its influence would be considerable if joined with the SCO. Combined, the CSTO and the SCO would function as a counterforce to NATO.
