Abstract

“Jianyuju”(‘N1 + V1 + N2 + V2’) is a predicate type that arouses constant discussion. It is sometimes used in a sentence with serial verbs, and sometimes used with double objects to constitute a complicated pivotal pattern. In modern Chinese “Jianyuju” means a sentence in which the object plays as the subject of the second verb simultaneously. The first verb in a “Jianyuju” has the meaning of incurring and results in the appearance of the second verb. This paper intends to perform a systematic analysis of “Jianyuju” in Mandarin Chinese. According to the three-plane theory, the author tried to explore the modern Chinese type on the basis of the forerunner’s research results on the angles of syntax, semantics, and pragmatics to grasp the sentence type completely. The main body include three sections. In the first section syntactic analyses were made to explore the structure system and structure order. In the second section semantic analyses were made to explore the case grammar and semantic constraints. In the third section pragmatic analyses were made to explore the focus theory, locutionary act, illocutionary act, perlocutionary act and distinctive features in “Jianyuju”.
