This paper studied a discourse function of ‘Ah(아)’ to discourse marker in Korean language. This study aims to analyze the meaning and function of ‘Ah’ in the view point of conversation levels and to look into the way of Chinese translation of this correspondence. An linguistic function of ‘Ah' as a discourse mark is ‘the beginning of a subject', ‘the change in the subject’, ‘the concentrating attention', ‘the control of progress' and ‘the gaining time' in the different circumstance. This phenomenon is reflected on the Chinese translation such that ‘a(啊)’, ‘ng(嗯)’, ‘hao(好)’ and ‘dui le(對了)’ is used for ‘Ah’ process is weak.
Abstract
