The aim of this paper is to analyze the image of the Russian Empire in the artistic world of later Tolstoy. This study focuses on exploring the Russian Empire, which makes the people walk the path of evil and unhappy. The study also deals with tyranny, oppression, barbarism, taxation and military service in the Russian Empire. This study on the image of the Russian Empire can be regarded as a barometer to understand Tolstoy’s thoughts(Tolstoyism). In particular, the works (<False Coupon> and <Three days in the country>) are major works that express Tolstoy’s thoughts(Tolstoyism) in the artistic world of later Tolstoy. In conclusion, we will analyze the image of the Russian Empire as an axis of evil.
Abstract
