집단 따돌림 담론을 통해 본 청소년 주체형성과정과 그 효과에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine, in the discourses concerning juvenile delinquency on the1990s' major newspapers, the process of subject formation and discoursal devices and its effects exercised in the process. For this purpose, the study applied Michel Foucault's discourse formation rules, especially his discoursal object and strategy formation theory. The discourses on juvenile delinquency have produced various kinds of juvenile delinquencies since the beginning of 1990s. Among them, this study pays particular attention to the discourses on ‘school bullying,’ which, combined with other social discourses, have been amplified and expanded, It proved that the discourses on school bullying formed youth subject into inhumane one. The aspect of ‘school bullying’ that any juvenile could be victimized without reason was surely an evidence to reveal juveniles' brutality. Moreover, the fact that anyone could be a victim of ‘school bullying’ called the attention of not only parents but the public. These discourses caused to establish as a protective device ‘youth protection law’ within which the youth protection system operated. However, the social perception that a judical device like the law is imperfect to protect juveniles asked our society to do careful affection and attention to them. This means that in our society, a big problem of youth protection arouses the necessity to discipline juveniles's lives. Youth protection as a new discipline system now appears as a delicate power effect on daily lives. In other words, the discipline of juveniles's daily lives, that is, bio power, means that the power to control juveniles' subject has been redeployed.
