Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effects of a 13-week resistance exercise training on the body composition and adiponectin, C-reactive protein, and homocysteine levels of obese men in their 20s. The training group in resistance exercise program for intensity of 60% 1RM, four times per week for 13 weeks. The main results of this study were as follows: 1) Weight, body mass index, and body fat percentage were significantly decreased in the resistance exercise training group. 2) Adiponectin level was significantly decreased in the resistance exercise training group. 3) No significant changes in the C-reactive protein level were observed in the resistance exercise training group and control group. 4) Homocysteine level was significantly decreased in the resistance exercise training group. The results of this study suggested that 13 weeks of resistance exercise training would be beneficial for ameliorating the body composition and adiponectin, C-reactive protein, and homocysteine levels of obese men in their 20s.
