Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of shuttle run training using the heart rate rest method on the cardiovascular endurance of female university students, and to examine the characteristics and effects of exercise intensity setting method. The subjects of this study were 150 freshmen from A University, who were assigned 50 students in 3 classes for pre and post treatment. The training intensity of the medium intensity(25~59%) and high intensity(25~80%) groups increased gradually from low level, and training was conducted once a week for 12 weeks. The target heart rate set according to the exercise intensity was provided to individual study subjects each week, and a band type activity tracker was used to verify the target heart rate during training. Repeated measurement two-way ANOVA was performed to analyze the round trip run records according to the training intensity (medium intensity, high intensity, control) and the timing (before and after). As a result, shuttle run training using heart rate reserve improved the cardiovascular endurance of female college students and the medium-(34.13 ± 11.64) and high-intensity(35.94 ± 13.07) groups showed a difference from the control group(25.36 ± 8.62). In addition, the heart rate rest method using activity tracker was able to manage objective and detailed exercise intensity in cardiovascular endurance training for the majority. Shuttle run training using heart rate rest, which is effective for improving cardiovascular endurance, is expected to be used in physical activity programs in university and fields.
