Abstract
This study aimed to analyze exercise participation and examine the associations between exercise participation and mental health and subjective health among people with disabilities(physical/hearing/visual/intellectual disability, and brain lesion) using the survey of disabled 2020 in South Korea. A total of 4,760 people with disabilities were analyzed. A chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were performed using Stata/SE version 17.0. The results showed that 49.1% of individuals with disabilities had participated in the exercise programs, and 81.1% of participants in this study had participated in exercise programs more than three times a week. In addition, the exercise participation time per session was the most at 44.6% for less than 30 minutes. As the frequency of exercise participation and exercise time per session increased, positive effects on mental health, subjective health and life satisfaction increased. Therefore, it is necessary to participate in regular exercise to increase mental health, subjective health status, and life satisfaction.
